“I’m tired” is a blanket statement that gets used continuously as a way to avoid talking about what’s really bothering me. The blanket is covered in things that have gone unsaid.

Handmade Bound Book with Custom Cover

The book I bound myself for an assignment, and we were free to customize the cover as we pleased. I have always been a fan of creepy and unusual creatures so I thought it would be fun to create a little book creature that snaps at you when you try to open her. I have sketches in this book so it felt fitting that no one could look at them unless I wanted them to.

This was inspired by a dollhouse, all the doors are functional and there's even a little room underneath the stairs with a bloody scene inside. This was meant to represent the side of someone's family that they keep closed from the world. Tragedies that are too hard to acknowledge, past relationships, and intrusive thoughts.
